Thursday, September 15, 2011, 26 members of the
Walker
community graduated from C E R T training.
CERT means Community Emergency Response Team.
The purpose of such training is for community members to learn
how, in case of emergency and/or disaster, to fend for themselves,
family, neighborhood and community.
The program is promoted by the Federal Emergency Management
Agency and local emergency agencies such as the Yavapai County Emergency
Management Department. Emergency personnel, in this case Crystal Macari,
train members of neighborhoods and community organizations in emergency
response to where they can be integrated into the emergency response
capability for their area.
Walker Community Action Alliance (WCAA), a local non-profit 501(c) (3)
organization, sponsored the training at the Highlands Center. |
